Meet Vegas

Vegas and his lookalike brother, Reno, faced a terrifying start when they were sold for slaughter as five-year-old pink standard donkeys, but their luck turned around completely when Longhopes stepped in. Years later, they returned to the sanctuary as seniors, both coping with cataracts. While Vegas chose to spend his remaining time wrestling with the youngsters before passing away, Reno had a different plan.

Reno preferred the calm, peaceful routine of the senior herd, choosing comfort over commotion. Following the loss of his brother in 2026, Vegas is enjoying a beautiful new chapter of companionship thanks to little Andy, who happily stepped in to be his devoted burro buddy. Together, they spend their days grazing quietly, with Vegas savoring the steady safety and warmth of the sanctuary.
