Meet Thunder

In his youth, Thunder was a magnificent giant of a donkey—muscular, strong, fiercely independent, and fearless.  He carried himself with all the pride of a classic jack even after being neutered. He played that powerful role beautifully for nearly two decades. However, when he returned to Longhopes under the safety net promise, he was in a severely weakened condition with a very uncertain prognosis.

After observing the other senior donkeys living the good life at Longhopes, Thunder made the wonderful decision that he wanted to keep living and get his share of being thoroughly pampered. He has completely embraced the "assisted living" lifestyle provided to all the senior donkeys at Longhopes  by the sanctuary's dedicated care team. Thunder is deeply enjoying being waited on hand and foot, finding something special to make every single day worthwhile.
