Meet Lulabelle

Lulabelle was born to be a caregiver, possessing a profound parental instinct that extends to any donkey in need of comfort. She has spent her entire life looking after others—first caring for an older gelding and then spending twenty beautiful years raising her daughter. When her daughter sadly passed away from a congenital defect, Lulabelle didn't hesitate to open her heart to a new soul in need.

At Longhopes, Lulabelle has found a beautiful, renewed purpose as the surrogate mother and protector for Bobbie, a deeply frightened donkey who had never known human kindness. As the perfect patient teacher, Lulabelle is thoroughly enjoying her days guiding Bobbie through the sanctuary routines. Watching her young companion grow more confident every day brings Lulabelle an immense sense of peace and fulfillment.
